Why Johnson essays are different

Cornell Johnson's 2026–27 essays are “a goals statement and your choice of one of two required prompts”: either the Impact essay, on how you intend to make a meaningful impact on the Johnson community (350 words maximum), or the Table of Contents essay, where you create the table of contents for the book of your Life Story (350 words if written, under 3 minutes if multimedia, 25 MB maximum file size). The goals statement has you fill in your immediate and 5–10-year Role, Company and Industry, then explain how you will use your unique qualities and Johnson's resources to reach the immediate goal. Johnson's page gives no limit for it; Clear Admit's 2026–27 guide says 350 words. An optional essay (350 words maximum) is required for reapplicants. Round 1 closed September 17, 2026.
